Looking advice, abs light has come on and after diagnostic check I need a new abs pump. Seen from research this is a common problem, Seat UK disagree. Any advice on how to tackle Seat about this problem, from what I’m told the price tag to fix this is eye watering.

It's worth checking your car against VOSA's recall list just in case it's had a recall on the ABS unit.

I don't think it's really a common fault though. Sure you'll find people moaning about such failures online but when you consider that against the number of these units in use I don't think it's a sufficient enough number to call it a common fault.

I think there's a repair kit available that includes new hydraulics while retaining the existing electronics, etc. which would be cheaper than replacing the complete unit.

I don't think you've really got much hope at all of getting SEAT to part-pay for a failure on an 11 year-old car.

I don,t know if will still do ,but to confirm YES seat uk it was an issue on the 2007 leon,s as when I bought my cupra in 2009 from seat 10 miles from showroom my abs light came on ,I rang them and within 10 mins booked in for replacement under warranty ,with apology faulty batch from supplier....car was 2 yrs old with 10.000 on clock so not new....it was also an official registered fault for that year just like the coil pack issue which affected all vag group....I,d have another dig with seat letting them know that it was an issue and see if they will at least offer something ...won,t be as much now I would think but in 2009 was £1000 to replace ....hope this helps...

Seat quoted me £1400 for new abs pump with labour. I don't know what the issue is with yours buy mine was brake pressure sensor. You can buy reconditioned units on for around £250 from ebay or here. My mechanic is charging me about £90 to replace. May be a different issue for yourself though as mine doesn't have ABS light on just ESP.
