Welcome aboard. I'm not sure if your car has it but on the older ones we have a relay 109 that's known to cause this kind of thing. On my Cordoba it's in the fuse box above the pedals. Like I said though I'm not sure if you have it but maybe worth a check.

hey there, i just had this problem myself, in ended up being one of the injectors, as when one fails the whole lots stop working. mine cut out one day, then left over night once recovered then re started it in the morning drove it for about 40 miles then it cut ouut again, then never restarted, during all this i changed the relay for the injectors, as this was a less expensive thing to change. but in the end it was an expensive injector.

Hi Guys, I'm new to this so. I have got a Seat leon mk1 2002 1,9tdi which is having funny problems.
On turning the key to the 2nd position, there is a noise that is normal and i can only assume its the fuel pump, or automatic primer or something of this nature. This noise used to go away after a few seconds but its not stopping now. I have located whatever is making the noise to be underneath the wiper fender on the drivers side.
When i start the car after about 1 second the car cuts off with a traction light on constant, and a flashing oil light, there is not immobilizer light on to suggest the key is at fault.

I have however recently changed the ECU on the car, and changed the ignition barrel and the clocks so im not sure if this is the problem or if the problem could be a faulty fuel pump or engine speed sensor.
The car has been lying for about 12 months after if had a head gasket changed so its also a possibility that the timing may be off.

Where is the best place to start, it seems very much so that it is an electrical problem as i'd imagine if it was a pump the car would at least use the fuel in the filter.

Any help would be great, i'm coming to the end of the road and don't know where to go from here.

Thanks

Has the issue happened since changing thr ECU, clocks and key? Did you have any of itcoded in to the car or just fit it?> If not, sounds like an immobiliser issue. Neither the clocks or the ECU are plug and play

Hi Dan, Thanks for the reply, Its hard to say 100% as the initial problem was the head gasket, so it was changed but when the car was laying on the street the only key was lost so this is when the clocks and ECU changed.
As i have been doing it in my spare time it also meant the car has been lying a while so it could be any amount of problems.
The car is starting, but cutting out, and all the forms i can find suggest this to be immobiliser issue but i am not seeing the flasking key symbol.

If i take the chip out of the key and try to start it it shows the flashing key and wont start so i had ruled this out. I have a feeling the the noise (pump like sound) remaining on is probably related but i dont now is this the fuel pump, or a relay.
When you say there not plug and play, what has to be done? I bought the ECU, Key, and clocks of ebay because i though it would be cheaper that reprogramming a key as Seat quoted £150

If they all came from the same car, and same model as yours, then they should be ok.

Have you scanned the car for fault codes? Could be fuel supply related as the pump shouldnt continue priming for more than a few seconds. Have you checked that fuel is making it to the engine, i.e. the in tank pump is supplying fuel? Could well be the in tank pump at fault
