Hi

I wouldent say so no, £500 for some used headlights seems alot of money, first I would ring your local dealer and see how much they are brand new you might be suprised.

Does it need spelling out....... you need to make sure that the headlight that are for sale are the same as the model you are putting them on.

also I asked Dave at Seremotors about buying everything through dealers and the headlight units them self are only £167 each then buy an aftermarket HID kit for less than £100 and its done.

I know some people dont like aftermarket HID kits but its definatly an inprovement from standard halogens and you get the astheticly pleasing looks that everyone loves with Xenons/projector lenses.

Doesn't take a genius but £434 for all brand new would be a better deal than the £475 second hand and then have the trouble trying to get them to work without the control unit etc.

I have converted my leon to oem xenons.

See my comments below with regards to the parts needed;

LEFT HEADLAMP 1P2941039 - £164
RIGHT HEADLAMP 1P2941040 - £164
CONTROL UNIT 4L0907391 - £150 x 2 - These don't need to be sourced from Seat. The Valeo (from memory) ballasts can be picked up cheaper - around 150 for the pair if that.
RANGE CONTROL MOTOR 1P0941295B - not needed unless you want the auto leveling, which is a lot of work to do as the wiring looms on the cars are different..
XENON BULB N10566103 - £120 X 2 - Again, buying the bulbs from the dealer is not needed. Source the bulb Type yourself online from numerous hid./bulb shops. I'd say you would get the pair of bulbs for around 100. D1s is the Type from memory.
LEFT BULB COVER 1P0941607 - £8
RIGHT BULB COVER 1P0941608 - £8
CONNECTOR 1J0973737 - £3 x 2
WIRE 000979131 - £1.41 x 2

Is this conversion for bi-xenons? [I don't know if there's a non bi-xenon version]

Presume so. The ones i have are bi xenon - as in, a shutter adjusts the main beam light source to flash and create dipped beam.

if that makes sense.

Black dome headlights don't have the cornering motors, chrome dome headlights do.
As said, you can use after market bulbs with them but from memory, D1S bulbs require a different type of ballast as the bulb has the ignitor built in? These ballasts can be had on ebay for around £70 I think.

The igniter / ballast fits to the bottom of the headlight unit. Its not built into the bulb itself.

You would be better off buying a car with them fitted already IMO. With that being said, from experience with OEM Xenons, they are a proper pain in the arse when stuff starts going wrong with them. My old car had no end of issues with Xenons, and Dav on here has had similar issues with his.

Also remember the new MOT rules approaching that will probably fail cars for non standard lights, so it may be possible auto level sensors and scooter checks are done on cars with OEM Xenon lights.

What issues you had?

Here in Italy non standard lights are already a no go for our MOT equivalent.
Fortunately I got a very friendly place where I get my cars MOT'd.
About the coppers pullin' you, the old owner of the Leon placed fake healight washer covers and with proper headlights [fresnel lens and everything] I'm pretty confident they'd fall for it.

Looks like you don't have the headlight washers though, and if that is the case then they are not "road legal".
