Hi Kev,

Well my Cupra has spent 4 hours now at the dealers & the foreign writing is still there....... finally the dealer got a response from Seat Technical, just to be told that they are now aware of the fault but won't rectify it under warranty all it is a nuisence to the owner, bloody cheek. the dealer can't assign the Technicians tme to it either so they've lost out.

They say it will be rectified with the next update, I have also learnt through VW that the 2.1 system wil not get the 7 digit postcode update due to licensing issues.

Bottom line don't buy this update !!!!!

Irfan, what do you know abut the update in June ?

they release a new map update once a year its either June or July but thats when i will be getting my one

The latest...... I complained yesterday to Seat Customer Service regarding the update & that it was faulty (sorry in their eyes "only a nuisence") they have called me back today via the dealer & offered to give me the next update free of charge.....which I have been told by them is available in June........ so watch this space....

I'm assuming you have to buy a unit with this version on, you can't get the software and load it onto the current system?

OK here's the latest, loaded on v3 last week which took 4 hrs 40 mins & at the end of it I still had the Russian writing in the postcode section, told the dealer to get back in touch with Seat Technical & get it sorted as my Cupra was in for service yesterday & wanted it sorted at the same time.

Well car went in for service yesterday & the dealer said that Seat had agreed to replace the sat nav unit, picked the car up in the afternoon & for once a result, the new unit installed is the 2.2 version with the latest maps installed as well as voice activation.

Have to admit gotta praise SMC @ Exeter for getting it sorted & their help :)

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused. I thought the Media system version had different functionality, such as displaying the phone contacts on the sat nav screen itself.

The map updates, are just map updates, not the media system itself. I was under the impression that the media system came pre-installed on the sat nav unit.

My car has the SEAT Media 2.1 and it is absolute 5hite!!!
I bought this specific car because it had blue tooth and Sat Nav, I did not realise at the time that it is a very inferior system. The 5 digit post code search is rubbish, there are many locations I need to get to but the system can'tfind them! I have to rely of a free app on my iPhone
Telephone operation is also not at all suitable, to dial a number you have to spend quite some time looking at the central display, hardly a safety feature in.2012!
I have complained to SEAT and asked for an upgrade to 2.2, I was told 2.1 cannot be updated to 2.2 and SEAT were not prepared to upgrade the hardware.
I was advised if any update to the software was available, I would be advised. As 2.1 has already been superseded by 2.2 I think it will be extremely unlikely that any work will be done on a software upgrade.
Do Audi & VW have the same inferior Sat Nav unit?

Hello all, sorry to drag an old post up but thought that would be better then starting a new... Does anyone know what the latest map version is? Searching online I can find version 3 but that seems to have been released in 2012

Thanks in advance

Dan

The 2.1 system is the worst thing about my Leon. it is absolute shite!!!
Seat aren't going to do anything about it they've moved on too far with 2.2 and the even better sets in the new Leon.
I've given up using the SEAT Sat Nav, Tom Tom on my iPhone is far superior. If you want a decent In Car Sat Nav, you'll have to spend some money and replace the head unit.

The last time I used the SEAT Sat Nav, I was trying to find a street in Gosforth (Northern suberb of Newcastle.
I input Newcastle as the town, but could not find the street, input Gosforth as the town, still couldn't find the street, searched again and found the system has 3 Gosforths! Gosforth, North Gosforth & South Gosforth. So as stated the system is absolute shite!!!

nope, having spoken to a fair few people at SEAT it's been made pretty clear there is no upgrade route from 2.1 to 2.2 - If you want the full postcode and stuff only option is to change the head unit.

As you say though once you get use to the system it isn't as bad as some people make out. There are times when i have to use google maps to find a nearby road that the 2.1 can find which yes is a bit of a pain if your in a rush but using the inbuilt guidance is a lot easier than having an iPhone stuck to the window.

I’ve got the 2.2 system in mine and its not that much better and I too started to use a Tom-Tom more or less a year ago to the day after it gave me the run around coming home from West Bay, Dorset.

The experiences of built-in sat-nav has put me in a state of mind to never pay extra for it and to be fair it was a free upgrade when I first had the Leon.

The lease on my Leon finishes in November and I’ve line up a Golf Mk7 Match to take over duties then and as the built-in sat-nav in the Golf is a £750 add-on I’m sticking with the Tom-Tom and all of its glorious live traffic updates.
