I know the varying costs, dare I say lottery with service costs has been mentioned in other posts, but does anybody know if SEAT recommend a cost for servicing. Also I remember seeing something about servicing costs being reduced for 2007 models onwards. So what is the best guess for the first year service cost on a 2.0TDI, DSG XL-Stylance likely to be.

Mt supplying dealer quoted circa £200 including VAT but another local (ish) dealer quoted £148 inc VAT and told me that in the previous model year before the price drop it would have been £200.

Service cost is dictated by SEAT only with regard to operations carried out, dealers labour rate varies from £60/hour upwards. Service costs were reduced by leaving the air filter and fuel filter in until 40k, not 20k as previously recommended. We charge £100 for tdi first service on standard oil. Longlife oil is a tenner more expensive.

Hi seremotors.

Thanks, I wondered if that was how it worked. My local dealer quoted me £120 inc VAT which is based on a labout rate of £69 per hour. To be honest I dont think that is too bad considering it includes oil etc. I would normally use Millers but I think I will run it for another year before up speccing the oil to give it a chance to bed in a bit more. Only 7500 miles at present.

Just paid £133 for the first service on our 1.6 petrol XL.

Didn't seem unreasonable to me, what do you think?

Cheeky £2.27+VAT for screenwash though considering it was almost full! Why do garages still do this?
