Hi

Had my Cupra Leon for coming up to a year. Done 6000 miles. A Google search seems to show the first service at 10,000 miles or a year, whichever is first. However, the car and the app seems to suggest it’s not due for another year.

Can someone point me in the direction for the correct answer please? I have the first two services included in a promotion when I bought the car.

^^^^ I have this scenario with my 10 month old Ateca VZ. My Cupra App suggests I have a way to go yet, see screenshot below, because the car was set to 'Variable / Flexible' regime at the outset, but I've recently rolled over 10,000 miles.

This typically gives 18,000 miles or 2 years between services; mine is calculated lower as I do a lot of short journey / heavy traffic mileage.

However, Cupra UK stipulate 10,000 miles or one year and base their Service Plans i.e. your two free services, on this.

I suggest you go with the flow and, as your mileage pa is low, get it serviced at the one year point.

Apart from anything else, if you do this and have a problem with the car down the line Cupra will not be able to cry 'invalid warranty' because you've not had it serviced.

Hope this helps.

You need to contact the brand or dealer to confirm what service regime the vehicle is on and stick to that or have the regime changed by the dealer on the VWG system and car so that everything correlates.

Also, if your vehicle is on variable but you book in at 10k or one year old then you need to make sure it gets pre-approved or you might end up with a wasted visit.

There's no way I'd be going 18,000 miles between oil changes. I'd have changed it at least twice by then :D

My previous MK4 and the current vehicle were both set to variable servicing on delivery and both cars I took out the 2 year VAG service plan at £199. After delivery of the first MK4 I rang VWFS who confirmed that (potentially) there could be up to '4 years worth' of servicing if it took this long to have the required 2 services according to the indicator. Whilst an advocate of regular servicing, if a major problem occurred under variable servicing but I had adhered to the indicators shown I would expect there to be no warranty issues. Before retiring I always had my vehicles serviced in accordance to the schedule often doing 500 - 600 miles in a day and always with the main dealer then if there was a problem I could just walk away and leave them to sort it without having to justify anything.

I'm sure that the longlife regine was for people who do 20,000 a year (approx) and the annual service was for up to 10,000. That is what I was told years back by both the SEAT/CUPRA dealers I have used for all my cars since 1996, and have stuck to annual for all my cars,

I'll barely cover 4000 miles in a year in my Leon during the next year, so it's certainly once a year for me.

My Leon was registered on 26 February last year and I bought it on 12 July with 3495 miles on it. Over seven months later I'm only just coming up to 5500 miles.

Since I retired in 2022 (when I got my Leon 300) I have only done 3500 miles since that time, as out on the bike or playing bowls etc, but still get the annual service.
