If it's a diesel it's a 10k fixed interval. The variable service interval sounds good in theory but it's mainly for companies who don't want to pay for regular servicing. This will have an effect later in the cars life but the company won't own it then!

Another thing is get in touch with a number of dealers as the price can vary wildly.

If its petrol then its every 10,000 miles - if i recall correctly then the on-board computer may be a little early as it is based on 15000 kilometres which equates to 9320 miles.

Semi-Variable Service Intervals

Hi guys - Stumbled across this forum a few days ago but thought I'd add my 2c worth.

Speaking to a local VAG / Ford garage (independent) this morning, they reckon you can service the TDI's on either a 10k or 20k service interval. I think the 10k is every 2yrs minimum whereas the 20k needs to be done at least annually. Anyone come across this at all?

Looking at getting a Cupra TDI. Currently doing 3.5k a month so any servicing savings would be great.

Im sure that all the FT/Cupra TDIs are every 10K miles or every year, whatever is the earliest.
The TDIs may very well be ok for 20k miles etc but i would say your Warranty would be void if you didnt meet the SEAT guidelines, and also you would not be able to state a FSH when selling it on.

ChrisUK is spot on regards SEAT Service prices. I rang around the 4 nearest SEAT Dealers and got quoted £190, £180, £175 and £120 so i phoned back the one that charged £190 (as it is the closest) and they matched the £120straight-away!

Just shows you how much they rip you off !!!

1800 miles til my 20k service...........I'm going back to the Skoda garage that did my 10k, the cust service was excellent, they were the cheapest, they give me the left over bits (door lube, screen wash etc), left a tub of sweets on the seat, and even washed her :)

Cheers guys - so to clarify I could get away with a minimal 10k service if I pay full whack every 12 months?

I had a Ibiza FR Tdi but all the servicing was paid for by the company so really didn't care how much it cost. All changes when it's your wallet taking a hammering.

Yup. Just an oil change at 10k, then the full annual.
