Hi guys

Help!!! I've currently got 18" Audi 9 spoke RS4/TT Quattro on my Cupra TDI but am seriously debating whether to go back to 17's.

I was given a lift by mate in his S4 the other night and it seemed so much smoother and not so crashy as mine, it had the original 17's on it which had the same profile tyres as my original wheels.

So the question is do I stay with the 18's or do I try and find some OE 17" versions of my current wheels?

Duncan

Are your 18" RS4 wheels reps and your 17's genuine?

My old RS6 reps weighed 16-17kg each and I thought the car handled better on my 16's.......until I got a decent set of 18's [a lot lighter] and its better than ever before.

Gonna put my original 17's back on and give them a try again, if I prefer the ride I'll be putting my RS4's up for sale, and hunting for some new 17's.

Adam my 17's were the original Starfish alloys that came on my LC, and I bought some geniune old Audi RS4's, be it that they came off an Audi TT Quattro

how much would a slightly bigger profile on 18s affect things like the speedo , dont think they look too tracktor stylee with 45's

my starfishs are on 45s and weitecs and a good comprimise , i would have to seriously consider the change before doing any swapps

maybe a different style 17 or paint the oe ones

on my mk5 which were 14s , 15 on the zs as standard , i went for 17s altho it looked the mutts nutz , lowered on spax 45mm was really harsh

giving people lifts were complaining of back aches and jaring their backs over pot holes

gota say style wise i was considering smaller wheels & wider euro look , but not sure how much smaller diameter wise , would fit over calipers etc

but handling wise it should really improve

It's just the constant dodging of potholes and just seems a little harsh, I was thinking of putting 45's on my 18's didn't know if they would rub. As the LC original suspension and handling of the car was designed for 225/45/17's surely the best ride would be on the orinal size wheels and tyres, until i can afford to upgrade the suspension components.

Took the plunge. After having 19"s on my Passat 1.8t I wasn't sure but got myself some MOMO GTR's 18"s. Look sweet and the ride isn't that bad (though I'm getting my coilies fitted on Saturday so that could change)but on the OEM suspension setup its fine.

Would post some pics but its raining again.

If and when it stops raining I will
