Should this be fitted somewhere?

My son has just collected his first car a 2014 FR 1.2 TSI. I've just been under the bonnet looking for part numbers for service parts when I noticed something that looks a bit strange coming from the air intake. It looks like it should plug somewhere. Anyone any ideas?

Hi, yes, this is part of the breather system and it looks broken, which is common, it sits in the top of the camshaft cover just underneath the charge pipe, if you look for 1.2 tsi breather as a topic you will find how to fix, I did it to mine and it’s fairly easy once you buy the new one way valve
