I just swapped mine over left to right and got a new lease of life out if them. Regularly cleaning the windscreen and using quality, water repellant screenwash helps too.

If you have branded aero blades then they are only supposed to go on one way as the spolier/blade is angled a certain way to keep them pressed against the screen at speed. If they are cheap ones then the angle may be the same both sides so they can be swapped without issue

OEM is rubber 100%

Not a trace of silicone on it. If you blades are already badly worn, try to take some silicone spray/stick and run along in it a couple of times and let the rubber "soak" it in. Now try to use the wipers after. You will get the idea pretty easily. Silicone wipers are actually just that, rubber with silicone in it.

Here is a 2 year old silicone blade vs a NEW normal rubber blade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99bXzqA1gnY

Thanks for confirming that. I've just ordered a set of the Valeo Silencio VM420 blades. Hopefully they'll be as good as everyone raves on about :D

Rain-x twice a year on the screen has the same effect.

That's what i thought, but actually over time the rubber seems to bend due to the wipers pressing against the glass, so swapping then round as made them wipe as new. It won't extend them for long, but might get me through the winter.

That's assuming they don't lift off the screen at high speed, then they won't do anything! ;)

I use it on all my cars. Works great.

Same.. I use Rain-X on my car and it's brilliant. Especially on the motorway, no need for the wipers, rain just glides off! Lasted about 2 months with my last spray, need to do it again. My wipers are also pretty shot, was going to buy some new ones before I started using Rain-X but no need really, even when I need the wipers, they're brilliant.

Word of warning, I purchased the WUK65E blades as listed here:

http://www.piaa.co.uk/wipers/wipershow.asp?make=SEAT&model=LEON+2&year=09/05-

These are for my '06 Mk2 Leon, but they DO NOT fit the wiper arm with any of the supplied adaptors! Just emailed them to find out which is the correct blade as the one listed is clearly not.

Did you manage to get this sorted out?

Was looking to buy a set until coming across your post.

To follow up, after contacting PIAA they confirmed these are the correct blades for the Seat Leon Mk2. Mine didn't have the correct adaptor in the box, possibly a packaging problem. They sent replacement adaptors very quickly and I installed them on the car with no problems.

The difference is superb and although they are expensive for me they are totally worth it. Just make sure you follow the fitting instructions and clean the windscreen thoroughly before using them to enable the silicone to do its job.

I've used PIAA blades on the Evo and they've been great. Wished I had bought them for the Leon rather than Champion.

I'm having a similar problem with the Champion EF65 blades as you did with the PIAA ones. None of the adapters fir my wiper arms. The Champion website says to use the CR1211 adapter and that even came fitted on the blade from the suppliers but it does not fit. When sat next to OE blade you can clearly see they are different.

I've emailed Champion twice via their website but not response yet. !!!!

My OEM wiper blades lasted well, had the same blades on the car from when I bought it and managed to get about 4 years use from them until they started smearing. I heard that the OEM wipers were expensive so decided to buy Bosch which didn't last that long. I managed to get a year and a half of use from the Bosch wipers until they needed replacing. I also read that the Champion blades weren't that good either so I bought OEM wipers and so far so good.

I also think that keeping the windscreen clean as well as cleaning the wiper blades throughly frequently also helps.
You can get OEM wipers on eBay sometimes at a good price, for example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUI...id=100011&rk=1&rkt=2&mehot=lo&sd=190851485109
