Slow acceleration, struggling on minor inclines

Hi,

I've had my Seat Ibiza SE 2009 1.4 since around November last year and recently I've noticed more and more how sluggish it appears to be. Perhaps this is normal for the car, but maybe someone here can confirm/shed some light.

My drive to work is mainly motorway but there are some typical motorway inclines on the way. Whenever I hit an incline maintaining 70 in 5th is almost impossible, regardless of how minor the incline is.

If I drop down to 4th and push it to around 40000rpm the engine stutters/chokes (if that makes sense).

I got it serviced a month back, full service and everyone was done other than the fuel filter because the mechanic said it was fine and didn't need it. Currently on 50,000 miles. He noted how sluggish it felt, lot of noise but no action is the way he put it.

Is this normal for the Seat Ibiza SE 2009 1.4?

Thanks!

Try a dose of Redex or 2 tank full of Shell V Power and see if this changes?

Perhaps after this many miles it has lost some power....85bhp originally? Air filter and air intake clear of gunk?

Once upon a time in a old Honda Civic that my aunt had had...there was as hole in the exhaust...so power was greatly reduced...when it was patched, normal service resumed...

Thanks for the advice, something cheap and easy to give it a go.

My local SEAT Dealer I find to be pretty poor in general so I'd need to go out of my way to find someone else.

Air Filter replaced at service and intake clear.

Perhaps I'm just expecting more than I should from it, it's a step down from my previous car which was 140bhp with a turbo (it died :()

Oh yea 140 down to 85 is a big decrease, especially turbo to NA 1.4 engine, all the power/torque on the NA engine is further up the revs.

I too had a 150 to 110 downgrade, but it wasn't too bad...as Ibiza is ~150kg lighter...
