Slowing down on approach to roundabouts - what’s happening?

I’ve noticed this also works with the speed limit detection, for example when going downhill and not accelerating or braking the engine/regen braking will kick in as soon as you hit the speed limit. I personally find handy as I have a speed camera round the corner from home on a downhill gradient, I can ease of the accelerator and not worry about the speed creeping over.
For those that don’t like the fact this can’t be turned off, its a minor change to driving style you get used to quite quickly, if you rest your foot lightly on the accelerator the car will coast as normal.

No, if eco tips are turned off the "take your foot of accelerator" message will not appear, but the car will still do the slowing down if you did take your foot of the accelerator.

I'm happy to be proving wrong

Ok so I think I’ve worked this out today now. There are two things

eco tips: this is a setting for the digital cockpit centre screen that can give you tips about closing windows and driving in D instead of S. It can be turned off in the interior settings. Once toggled off, I think this one stays off.

eco assist: this is the car slowing down for roundabouts, change of speed limit etc where it will brake for you with the foot off the gas after giving you an alert. You can turn this off in the drive assist menu but I think it’ll turn on again next time you start, I quite like the feature though.

With the old pre 2020 set up you just turned eco tips off. On the last you would think it wants to charge up the hybrid battery rather than put your foot on the brake. Old style driving in a DSG you would let engine braking cut in... lead to believe from here the energy is used for charging the battery. The eco mode in the old DSG would allow you to run down a hill with little engine braking. Weird sensation. Kept out of eco and with a diesel not good to not over tax it for regeneration. Want those passive regenerations.

Think I'll be jumping direct to electric and missing out hybrid and mib3 and 4 🤣.
