Hi guys i'm having an issue with my leon, its due for mot shortly and i'm worried about the smoke test they do. I've been getting what looks to be grey smoke on startup and it continues until the engine is warmed up. It's not alot at all but i'm very picky and it annoys me lol. Its not using oil or water i get 150-160 miles for £20 so economy is fine aswell. It also idles rough for about 30 seconds or so. I did notice however when it done this before it idled rough for a few minutes rather than 30 seconds and when i cleaned the EGR valve it cut the time down to 30 seconds. I've replaced the glow plugs with 4 brand new bosch ones which hasn't really helped. I can hear a constant clicking comming from a solernoid with alot of vac pipes near the airbox could this cause the problem or would it worth replacing the EGR valve?

Cheers guys.

As far as grey smoke you sure it's not water vapour?..... That would be very normal on a cold start....

As said it might just be water vapour due to weather and water collecting in the exhaust.

No codes??

is the car mapped??

It all doesn't sound too unreasonable to me.

I had similar issues but had the EML too (glow plugs and temp sensor)

Mapping doesn't help but since these were replaced+service, things are better imo.

You will always get some smoke first thing
