Dromore Co. Down
hey guys.snows not awful here in N.I but managed to rip off half of engine under tray the day so just took the whole thing off. I also managed to end up with some kind of heat sink under the drivers door hanging off.cable tied up atm but im sure its there for a reason.does anyone know what its for???

Hi Matty, Its the heater to stop Diesel solidifying in the winter. I took my Toledo for its ITV amd mine was hanging down had it come off I would have lost all my fuel. Hope this helps. aggie

Hi CrispDust, At least I got the diesel bit right. I don;t know for sure what it was for I was just repeating what the fitter told me. Thanks for the correction. Cheers aggie

it could be preheater but this is a rare option usually only fitted in cold climes. cooler is required as the diesel pump pressures cause the diesel to heat up quite a bit so excess is cooled on way back to tank.

well "a fix" was my next question. i thought I remembered reading about this before but couldn't find the thread.il have to get this fixed as shes up for sale atm or gonna gt traded in for a Scooby very shortly. mines snapped the bolt off too phil.nt nice to see the thing hangin down is it???

Still fine mate almost 12 months in, no issues at all, and it's only got to last another 8 days as I am part ex-ing it next week for an Octavia vRS !!!!
