Afternoon chaps and chapesses...

Ok been after doing this for as long as I can remember, obviously funds permitted, and also down to maybe ruining the cars natural 'quiet cruising' sound. I used to do alot of motorway driving and the thought of a boooomy thrummm constantly put me off...

Well things change and I still don't want a boomy exhaust but I'm defo in the market for a full system now. The way I've researched it is there are 5 contenders now. Miltek, Pipewex, Piper, Blueflame and the new kid - Cobra. I know Cobra aren't new, but they are new to LCRs.

After getting quotes the Cobra is defo the cheapest, but the video on their site showed it to be a little too 'standard ish?' I've always put the best stuff I could afford at any one time on my car and for some reason it's cheapness scares me a little??
Maybe 6 months down the line alot of discolouration may appear?

I should add the decat is tempting cos they are slightly cheaper but the drone may kill me...so race cat it is.

1. Pipewerx is £1100 ish
2. Blueflame is £1150 ish
3. Miltek (waiting for email back)
4. Cobra £775
5. Piper (omg don't ask- £1300 ish)

Piper are defo the best exhaust for this car, and I remember the attention to detail they had when developing it through this forum, but £1300?

My heart is set on the Pipwerx full system, even I'd the cat back IS custom. It's because of their name and the enthusiasm of the guy on the phone. What are everyone else's thoughts?

I run a relentless high flow manifold, dp and decat with a resonated milltek cat back. I will get you a link of the sound of my car :)

Some peeps here run with the Cobra system and looks (andsounds) awesome tbh. I saving up for the Cobra resonated, the non res makes too much noise for my liking. I will also go for a metal racekat, I cant handle cabin drone as well.

With the money saved on the Cobra you can buy some other goodies or spend it on some time with the misses ;)

Cheers Sam. Very nice indeed.

I would love to see some dyno graph readouts of folks running Cobras and an aggressive stage 2 map ie Revo.

I'm a bit analistic with my car purchases unfortunately. If it needed it. For better quality, power and looks I will always shell out

So that's £245ish pounds for a 3" DP and sports cat or £215ish for a 3" DP decat - wow great price! Is the sports cat good enough to pass a UK MOT? Of course I have mates who can sort that - but maybe a question for other SCN members

Anyone hear of Blueflame these days? Back in the day everyone was buying one. Not anymore I think.

Have to say the Blueflame guy when I rang didn't seem that interested that I was a potential customer and his knowledge was questionable to say the least. As I said the Pipewerx guy was very helpful indeed. The reputation of Pipewerx is second to none cos of the owner. I'm embarrassed to say im unsure if he still works there, but was still shocked at the price. Miltek have said it all in their very delayed email back -not good.

Ive always thought blueflame had a boomy reputation, Ive just gone for a Cobra non resonated cat back.. it is definatly not a quiet system however I do mostly motorway miles and it is now boomy at all and actually is only a little louder than standard!

However when you want a bit more noise it sounds awesome, and I havent even got a decat/sportscat yet! Id even rate them in terms of build quality too, all parts fitted perfectly first time!

VERY happy customer here!

Lol no worries, and I only have a cat back, having done the decat thing before I didn't want the noise again! If I was to get a full system I'd get a sports cat to match the non resonated cat back as hopefully it wouldn't add to the noise too much!

There's a very quick, crap video of how loud my cat back alone is in my rr thread if you were interested!

Mate have a look at the video on their website of a 'decat' full system. It's quiet as hell. With a 200 cell cat will be almost like standard.

Have a look!

shouldnt always believe 1 video

ive got res and sports cat (cobra) , and trust me its loud , theres some vids in my RR thread can link in here if u want

as for views on the others i cant give , for the cobra however i can so i will

Build quality very good , welds etc good , and a pretty decent fit etc

the 1 bad thing is however the tip , some rust spots started to show up so i polished it asap , and theres still some slight rust coloured dots (nothing to noticable) however if i left it longer it would have been so bad!! , so i know after every wash give it a quick polish up

actually theres the vid (this it first one tbh its actually louder slightly and more burbly) , good thing i like about it also is its only loud when u want it to be at least in the cabin

Try http://www.bcsautomotive.co.uk/ its the good half of blueflame after it all went tits up

"shouldn't always believe a video" but it's the video to sell their product lol.

Cool vid I think I've seen it before. See I knew there's a downside to a full system that is shy of £800, surely shouldn't have to clean a stainless after every wash? I know Piper had a catback rust/discolouration issue with theirs when it was brought out.

I know t0m on here had a full Piper on his old LCR, and back then there were some tasty deals. Wanted to buy then. If no one has heard a full Piper 3" with decat then u really need to. Sound seriously raspy.
