Just taken delivery of a fantastic Cupra R. I will put pics up later when I can as im currently at work. Absoulty fantastic car and love her to pieces. Collected her from Ebbw Vale in South Wales on Saturday so the 3 hour drive home was fantastic.

Unfortuantley the previous owner lost the spare key. Now my brother has 4 keys for his Audi long story short he lost some but later found them so has many. Is it possible to wipe a flip key and get seat to programme it to my car as this would be far cheaper than a new flip key.

Thanks is Advance

Two elements to key coding, remote alarm/central locking and the immobiliser.

Immobiliser is a passive chip, working like an RFID tag, read by a coil around the ignition lock. The chips can only be adapted to one immobiliser unit. It is possible to get hold of new chips, which would then have to be adapted from scratch. Only a dealer can perform immobiliser adaption, unless you have the Secret Key Code (SKC) a four or seven digit code that used to be given out on a plastic tag with the keys on a new car.

Remote locking/alarm fob adaption can be done by VCDS or a dealer, provided the fob is broadcasting on the correct frequency, 433MHz.

You need to get a blade cut,a guy on ebay does this just by sending him a pic of your key blade & get a transponder chip, fit them to key, info is in faq section flip key guide thread

Most Timpsons can also cut you a spare blade (if you buy a blank one off eBay) for less than a fiver

...and you don't have to give them your address [B)]

Audi & Seat remotes aren't compatible. Audi are the only part of the VAG group that use their own remotes. Seat, Skoda & VW share remotes.

You don't have to go to the dealers to get a new key. There's people out there that supply, cut & program cvar keys for a living. I'm 1 of them.

If you buy a flip key off of ebay make sure it has the correct part number as there's different remotes depending what year your Leon is. I've said this in the "flip key" thread but it's a few pages back. I have put my own topic on in the same forum section listing what part numbers are for what year Leon

Also Timpsons won't cut a customer supplied blank blade anymore.

70% of VAG id48 k-line transponders can be unlocked & then reprogrammed to a different car. You obviously have to have the equipment to do it, which I do. I have about £10k worth of key programming equipment & software. Not cheap chinese knock offs!

Also is security key code, not secret key code ;)

I remember you posting about this earlier. We should petition the moderators to get that thread made sticky, or to let us create another one.

I suppose what I was trying to say was that VCDS won't help you unlock a transponder for Immobiliser 3 or later, and I don't think a dealer will either - they'd rather sell you a new key. I seem to recall reading that W3 stamped on the key blade meant Immobiliser 3, and W on its own meant Immobiliser 2, the W standing for something German that translates to Rolling key code.

Also is security key code, not secret key code ;)
I just remember SKC then expand it so the OP can understand what I'm on about:doh:. I'll try to remember that it should be Security, though - sounds a bit more professional.

yup! secret key code sounds like something off of a harry potter movie! ;):D

Anyways, immob 1, 2 & 3 all use the same type of transponder but VCDS is limited to what it can do with them as far as unlocking goes & you're correct. VCDS will only program used transponders to immob 1 & 2.

I do use VCDS most of the time for key programming as it doesn't cost me anything to use whereas my Advanced Diagnostic MVP Pro is a token based machine which uses a token every time i program a key & tokens aren't cheap. Bought 250 at the last autolocksmith trade show last month & even with 20% discount they still cost me £1800

A sticky with part number info would be ideal. I try to be as helpful as possible when it comes to keys because a lot of people just go buying the 1st thing that looks similar or they are under the impression you have to go to the dealers to get keys sorted

DO NOT buy that remote. Totally the wrong part number & the transponder is a canbus transponder which is in the mk2 Leon & other newer Seat

what year is yours?

cos these are the mk1 Leon part numbers

2 button remote Seat Leon 2002-2006 1J0959753CT or 1J0959753AG

3 button remote Seat Leon 2002-2006 1J0959753DA or 1J0959753AH

2 button remote Seat Leon 2000-2002 1J0959753N

I have all of the above in stock so i can sell you 1 if need be. I sell brand new remotes for only a little bit more than what that 2nd hand fob you put the link to is listed for

Shes a 2004 model so I take it i need the first code. It is a 2 button remote. I got a quote of £55 if i supplied the remote and key. Does that sound about right?

Actionman do you wanna pm me your prices?

£55 isn't too bad for programming & cutting of the blade. Still more than i charge but it depends how far he's traveling. I charge £40 to cut & program that type of key within a 10 mile radius of my home
