Spare Wheel Doesn't Fit

Less than two months (and less than 200 miles) ago I had a new pair of front tyres on the LCR. I've just found one completely flat. Inflated it enough to get me to the local tyre shop, hoping it's a nail and they can repair it. No, it's a split on the side.

So, new tyre ordered in. Spare comes out of the boot, doesn't fit over the Brembo on the front (as expected), switch rear tyre to front, put spare on rear... holes don't line up. WTF? Has anyone else come across this? Why would there be a space-saver in the boot that doesn't line up? Unless of course someone's switched it at some point. It IS the right size, it's just not deep enough and the holes don't line up.

Any ideas?

AFAIK these all had a steel spare, rather than another alloy. Why would they sell the spare and then replace it with another that doesn't fit? Seems very weird

Jan 2003/52-plate. I've heard a few people say they have a steely so assumed it was normal and never tested it. Had the car just over 4 years and never needed it

FFffff!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus side is that this is a lesson I shall learn from. Next time I buy a car I shall insist on seeing the spare fitted to the car to make sure it fits. Gonna be on the look-out for a new alloy then. Had considered a new set with winter tyres on in the past but don't do the mileage to warrant it. A single wheel would work for me though...

They all came with a full sized alloy. (LCR's)

Sounds like you have a space saver off something else!

I remember reading a lot of people saying that they couldn't get the spare over the Brembos and the advice was to put it on the back and the rear wheel on the front. Sure I didn't completely imagine that
