Spare Wheel / Space Saver

Hi guys, hope you are all keeping well and safe.
Picked up the Formentor V2 1.5 in black yesterday, so far I am impressed.
Checked the boot and got the usual tyre sludge kit, I always prefer to have a space saver wheel etc.
Does anybody know what size space saver wheel size, tyre size and jacking kit?
I am running the standard 19" wheels.
Thanks in advance

Do you have brembo brakes by any chance? With Brembos, the spare wheel they ship with the car does not fit so you get the kit.

Which, as was pointed out to me (Ateca with Brembos) is a bit daft, as it’s not recommended to fit a space saver to the front anyway. So I git the dealer to add one.

I doubt any of the aftermarket places are listing anything yet. I guess an Ateca spare would work,

I recommend just getting the wheel and then get a genuine jack from SEAT, the generic aftermarket ones aren’t necessarily a good fit on the sill points. You’ll want the foams, boot floor and securing kit from the dealer/SEAT specialist anyway.

Does anybody know which space saver will fit over the Brembo brakes and if it fits in the spare wheel well

Didn't know about this. I googled it and apparently because most cars are FWD, if you put a space saver wheel on the front you are risking issues steering or braking. It's recommended to swap rear tyre to the front in that case.

If your flat tyre is on the front, and your car is front-wheel drive, swap one of the rear wheels to the front and put the space saver on the rear - this is because the front of the car is used for steering, braking and acceleration and therefore it needs the best rubber at the front.

If you have a rear-wheel drive car with a limited-slip differential, you risk damaging your differential if you put the space saver on the rear. Put it on the front and drive more slowly than the 80kph limit, especially in the rain.

If your car is a standard rear-wheel drive car, the space saver should still go on the rear but be aware that you will wheelspin much more easily.

None. As above, you don’t fit a space saver to the front, if you have a front flat, you swap a rear to the front after putting the spare on the back

I don't think any fit. The brakes are too big for 18 inch spare wheel. That is why Cupra does not ship a spare wheel if you have Brembos ( you get a spare wheel when you don't have brembos, at least it is in my spec).

My car didn't have any spare wheel/jack/wrench at delivery. It's a mk3 Cupra R with 370mm Brembo front discs. I bought a tyre repair kit, wrench and a oem jack from a salvage yard (as new, never used). See item no jack below. Same for Leon, Octavia and Golf.

The 18” doesn’t fit but there are 19” in the VW/Audi group and may fit over the brakes but not sure if it would fit in the wheel well.

It only a recommendation and it also depends on the information in the handbook of the car in question.

No mention in the hand book on my current cars on which axle to fit the space saver.

They are normally only meant for <50mph and <50 miles driving to get you home or to the garage

It could be just as dodgy on the back if you didn’t drive carefully with it on.

Yeah I think the wheel well is molded for the 18''.

I could be completely wrong..... but I assumed the rolling circumference of the space-saver would be equal to the rolling circumference of the normal wheel, so for the spare the rim size being different makes a difference to the height of the tyre sidewall, but not the diameter of the hole it fits into?

Oh damn, you are right. I spaced out.

Not sure why they don't include it then. It's possible 19'' space saver is more expensive and they wanted to save some money (not only thing where they reduced costs on Formentor).

Often the reasons are connected with emissions. The extra weight means higher emissions, so they won’t fit it, at least to a new car. I had that with Toyota, because I specced a pan roof, I couldn’t have a spare. No pan roof, spare ok. I bought the trim and did the retrofit myself.

On the Cupra Ateca with Brembos I suspect it’s because none of the standard space savers will fit the front, but I’d not want a space saver on the front anyway, so when I bought mine (ex-demo) I got a spare added.

The spare wheel does not comply with the Brembo brakes.
But what about the rear wheels ?
In case of a rear puncture it's okay.
And in case of a front puncture it is enough to swap.
No ?

Yep, with a front puncture, first put spare on the back, and back wheel on the front. As I said, I dont like space savers on the front where they have to deal with both power (the 4drive I’d effectively FWD unless there’s wheelspin) and steering and the majority of braking.
