Spark Plugs - Upgrade

My Cupra 280ST is getting a major service in the next few weeks and one thing getting replaced is the spark plugs.

The car is currently running about 370bhp with a number of mods, and alongside Millers Nanodrive NT+ 5w40 I would like to use upgraded spark plugs.

Does anyone know what ones are actually an improvement? I’ve seen posts about RS6/7 plugs etc but not sure exact what is required...

Any help would be massively appreciated.

There’s two ways of going really - the OEM RS7 plugs (around £70-80 for a set) or the NGK race plugs (around £120 for a set).

I personally went for RS7 plugs on my 2016 290 and now my R. Partly because of the cost but also because if they’re good enough for a stock RS7, they’re good enough for my Cupra :)

Brilliant - Thank you for your help! I’ll get a set of RS7s ordered.

Where did you get yours? I can only seem to find them in packs of 8 for the RS7s V8

I ordered mine from TPS when you used to be able to walk in. You could always try RPS or a local VAG specialist. 06K905601M is the part number, just ask for 4 :)

The RS3 coil pack part number is 06H905110L :)

I’m running the same as Damo - RS3 coil packs with RS7 spark plugs.

I thought about this for my next service which is due soon, currently stock but will be looking into a map within the coming months.

What are the actual advantages to running these plugs? Any improvement in power/torque or anything noticeable or all placebo as mentioned above?

Thanks,

I think it’s more of a reliability and strength upgrade than a noticeable power/torque upgrade. But I did feel the car ran smoother after changing them out.

Previous gen EA888 used to work much better with upgraded plugs/coils when mapped. I don't know if that's the case with gen3 as well but if I got a map I would upgrade them.
