Hello all, I appreciate that speaker upgrades are probably one of the most featured articles on here, but I am looking to get some Edge ED206s from Halfords.

I don't want any advice on what is a better speaker, etc, just clarification on a couple on the fitting of them:

I appreciate that I need the SAK-3103 adaptor prior to fitting (also removing the lip, leaving it flat), but is the adaptor easy to fit? And what do I need to do about the wires - I have heard people talking about cutting lead no.2, but don't know why...

A VERY SIMPLIFIED step-by-step guide would be much appreciated. No techy jargon, no tangents from people who want to talk about anything other than this subject, just a little bit of assistance for an Altea and ICE newbie!

Can't help much, only that the lead cut is to eliminate your standard tweeter in the top of the door! although i left it as i prefered the sound with it on! :)

oh an fruit free how and why

as you say cut the outer flange off with a jigsaw , either use the existing 4 mounting holes with nuts & bolts to hold into place or use self tapping screws to hold it into new holes

the speaker wire in the door plugs into the sak 3103 adaptor and fly wires connect to the speaker

the reason you cut the number 2 wire is that goes off to the tweeter higher up in the door , put some heat shrink or tape on the exposed wires
, so you dont want 2 tweeters firing treble at you put some heat shrink or tape on the exposed wires

as a meerkat might say simples !

I did mine the other day, I 1st did it without cutting the wire and it was terrible! The original speakers couldn't cope, so just snipped the looped red wire on the adapter , job done, got some 300watt 2 way bass face in the front and 350watt Pyle 3 ways in the back. The improvement in sound quality is astonishing.

Just snip the loop on the red as per the post above with the photo of it cut and taped.

I cut the rim off the adapters by scoring with a Stanley knife and then snapping away with pliers - if you don't have a jig saw...
