Speaker/head unit problem.

Hi everyone. I just put some speakers in, replacing the standard ones. I went for some vibe ones that jarre? On here recommended from halfords.

The problem is that the head unit no longer let's me fade the speakers to the rear or to the front. I'm just wondering if it's got something to do with the fact I only put wire in to let the speakers work and not the tweeters? Does anyone know? Thanks.

Really need to use speaker wiring adaptors to avoid this happening mate. How have you connected the new speakers up exactly?

By basically sticking the speaker wire into 2 of the 4 holes from the original adapter.

So if I get an adapter and fit it to the new speakers and plug it in, that should work fine? I'll probably just go without the fader

Not entirely sure why that would stop the Fader working. Adaptors are easy, click on, connect to speaker, job done. Fader still works as well. Good thing about adaptors is you can snip wire 2 on them if you don't want the tweeters to work. Doesn't bugger up the OEM wiring either.

yeah you might need the sak 3103 speaker adaptors, thats what i used. My fade works fine as i use it

Do you think this adapter will fit a 2012 Leon? What year is yours? The eBay seller states that it goes up to 2005 but I remember yours as a 2010 maybe?

Yep thats what you need.

It says 2005 due to the plastic buffers having the plastic rim on. What you need to do it get a pair of pliers and snap the rim off, then screw the plastic buffer to the original door car holes, then screw the speaker to the buffer.

The current speaker adaptors clip straight into the cars standard wiring, dead easy. Then attach to your speaker and you're done!

If you take the original speakers out, there is the wires, attached to a clip, that then goes into the speakers.

You attach a wiring adaptor, in that pack, to the clip. Thats you're wiring done.

you will notice that the original speakers are quite deep, they have a plastic surround on them to push them out further. The plastic buffers in the sak 3103 pack allow the aftermarket speakers to sit further out, like the standard ones, to enable you to have a 'bass box' behind the speaker and give better sound from it.
the buffer screws to the original screw holes, then screw the speakers to the buffer, connecting the wires before that, and its done.

if the adapter does not work the amp in the stereo has been shorted and that usually screws balance and fade controls

Does anyone know what number on the speaker wire, the tweeters are? Thinking of cutting them off. Also will there be a difference if I end up cutting them off or not? I take it I'll be able to have more bass if needed but that's about it?

Try to pull out the cable in the number 2 connector, alternatively snip the number 2 cable on the adaptor, then it will leave the original car wiring in tact. This will then disable the tweeter.

I snipped the original car wiring as i know i can re connect it again and it will be like new, at the time i didn't have the aftermarket speakers, but the tweeters were too much for my young sensitive ears

Cheers mate, I just snipped it and the bass is under much more control. Much more like it thanks to you and redemption who mentioned it earlier as well.
