ive bought a cupra and the speedo isnt working at all. the rev counter and temp gauge work. the speedo is dead and doesnt move at all. and the fuel gauge goes buzurk when its empty. i filled the car up and the gauge went to max and slowly crept down to empty as the distance increasesd, but once empty the needle jumps all over the place.

ive checked the fuses and they are all ok. what can i do?

could it be a bad earth? any ideas please i need it sorted

check the sender is plugged in on the g'box end... my bet is it is'nt.
back of gearbox on diff housing on top under a reflective cloth cover.

i did have a sneek peek but i couldnt see it, i will have a good inspection after. would this effect the fuel gauge? and would the speedo being unplugged cause the computer readings to defualt to 0

Hi, i have just sorted my speedo problem and it sounds the same as yours. On advice i bought a new sensor for the gearbox and it has solved the problem!!! including the fuel guage? dont ask me why, i dont know, it must be the voltage drop or something? Anyway, hope this helps. Madmarcus.

I had to buy a whole clock instrument panel at a cost of £167 when my speedo failed as everything else failed along with it and my car wouldnt start
