So for the first time today ive just had a little play around with sport mode and just gave her a little spurt.
Dont know if its just me but the engine gave off a nice sportier tone than when in normal.
Has anyone with the tdi 184 engine noticed this??.
I think its only the cupra that has now got the sound aktuator fitted.
Now they have took the actuator off do u reckon they have done something that changes the tone of the engine automatically when in sport.?been a bit carefull since i had it but now its done 500 miles i just gave her a little bit of beans lol!! And i like it!!!!.
Back to normal now tho for a little while.

I don't think it's a sound actuator, but the engine noise is definitely piped into the cabin when the car is in sport mode.

I know that it hasnt got the actuator.thats why i was a bit suprised that it still does change engine tone in sport mode.

My 1.4 TSI ACT definitely sounds better in Sport mode and feels quicker too. Using the Individual mode and setting the engine to 'Sport' in the settings doesn't produce the same effect.

First time I pressed the sport button and put the foot down myself and my passenger just burst out laughing. It's so fake.

2014 184.

I never noticed any difference when I had mine, felt just as sprightly as normal. Eco mode was **** though. Took me a week to decide to physically unplug the Actuator in the Cupra. Made me nauseous.

Stiffer steering and noticeably quicker throttle response is what I have noticed on my facelift fr, no sound changes but I'm not in sport mode very often on my 30mph commute. Think I need to investigate further, in the name of science of course!!!

If you've got an OBD11 installed you can see the throttle position as a percentage value.

This is interesting as it shows the difference between Eco and Sport mode.

With Eco, you can't actually apply 100% throttle without pressing the little button at the end of the accelerator pedal. It's something like 70%, which means:
* Half way isn't 50% it's roughly 35%.
* 10% throttle = 7%

I've also noticed in Eco engine mode the stop start seems to active more often and I rarely see the "Stop start unavaiable" symbol. This makes me think it's charging the battery quicker, which reduces the power of the engine. Similar logic to having the A/C turned on steals 10bhp.

I have my individual mode setup as follows:
* Eco Engine
* Sport Steering
* Eco A/C

The reason being, I like to have eco mode enabled when stuck in daily stop and start traffic and I've noticed I save a lot of fuel doing so. Then I'll switch to sport mode when I've got some nice roads. The reason I used individual mode like this is because when I switch between Eco and Sport my steering feels the same.

Funny you say this, i recently bought 184 2013 model and and i said to a friend when in sport mode the sound totally changes. So is this just a fake noise?

It just seems to rev a bit freer then in normal or eco which seems gutless.
