Hi all, new member but been browsing site for a while after getting my 1.8t mid way through 2012, it's the best car I have ever owned I love it - had astra SRi(s), golf GTi(s) but by far the most fun car I have ever driven ditto the forum which is a great source of information if a little over my head sometimes.. I am a bit clueless when it comes to some of the speak on here being honest TIPs, dump valves etc so in laymen terms could some kind soul tell me if its worth spending money on a remap, the car is quick now its enjoyable but in simple terms 1) what improvement in pick up & 0-60 will there be 2) is fuel consumption better and should you really ad on other bits before having it done? Thanks for any advice or links to other posts :)

Remap is a great way of enjoying the car more and makes a real difference. You need to run the car on better fuel before and after onwards to get the most benefit.
A stage 1 map is designed to run on a standard car so if your cars in good condition you need nothing, however pushing the car harder might produce a few weaknesses and some cars need fresh coil packs and a new dv. but thats more something to be aware of than worry about. Standard dv will be fine if you need a new one.

Choose a well known respected tuner who knows these engines then if a problem occurs they can sort it.

MPG is often slightly better although youll be more tempted to go quicker :D

0-60s down to your tyres.

Remap is the best modification for the money[B)]

This is great advice thanks, it seems there is not a lot to lose as I normally drive it like miss daisy its just always good to have a bit of fun from time to time! I was out with a friend the other day and he said I thought these cars are supposed to be quick after which he was begging me to stop haha, this is what I love about this car its just waiting to be let off the leash :)
