Starter System Fault

driving home last night (2014 1.8T FR) and i had a warning in the screen "Starter system faulty Workshop!!" showing a Key symbol - anyone had this/know of a problem. I have called my local dealer (who are useless) and waiting for them to call me back..... the car seems to be working fine.

Hi not sure I can be too much help, but had my 1.4 ecotsi FR in for its first service on Tuesday and one of the things they said they would be checking was for a 'recall' for checking something on the stop start system. I took this to be a TPI type event. There was no record of the check in the paperwork returned after the service so afraid have no reference for you to quote. However show them this if you like and then maybe they can check their bulletins.

Mine is MY16.

I've had that message twice this week.

On one of those occasions I also had the emissions light flashing at the same time. After a restart it went back to normal each time and has been fine since. I didn't bother with the dealership yet as they're usually pretty useless with intermittent issues. I'd be interested to know what caused it though.

If it does it again I'll drop it in to them.

Hmm.. That sounds unlikely to me. I only add £25 at a time so it certainly isn't causing my problem.

That's exactly the kind of answer I thought they'd give. What a cop out.
