Starting concerns - (nit picking?)

Right, I may be being picky but the last couple of mornings somethings different with the 1.9tdi sc.

Having a Mk1 Leon TDi 130 I've always started the car by just turning the key with no throttle needed and it's always fired.

With the wifes Ibiza it's always been the same until recently when it's turned over without the hint of firing until I've applied some throttle. I dont think it's right. I noticed today the tick-over was a little high at one junction (just over 1000rpm) then it returned to normal.

Any ideas peoples? It's running fine other than that.

Not sure about the start bit, but diesels normally start without any throttle.
Does your car have a DPF (diesel particulate filter)??? IF it does then that will explain the higher revs, as basically it collects soot and burns off when full. If at tickover when it is regenerating it increases the revs to enable it to do so, should only take 5 mins or so. Best bet for a better explaination is look for dpf on leon mk2`s

According to the manual to regen you need to be doing 50-60mph in 4th for 20 minutes to get the exhaust temp hot enough to clear the DPF so i don't think it's that.

You shuoldn't be needing to apply any throttle to start up a diesel so something's definitely amiss, get it booked in to be looked at, it seems that there are teething issues with the new ibiza so the more they can be looked at the quicker SEAT can sort things out.

Dont think the 19tdi has a DPF, only ever do short miles in mine, as dont have to travel to work any more (works van) no more than 8 at a time, and mine starts and run fine.

Seems to be intermitent. I'll keep my eye on it for now.
