Had the Cupra a couple of days now and am certainly enjoying the "go".
One thing I'm not sure about is the rattle just as the engine starts. Just as it first fires from cranking, there is a rattly clattering, an bit like a really noisy diesel starting, this goes as soon as the engine properly catches and then the engine is quiet and smooth.

I noticed something similar on the other Cupra that I tried before I bought this one, but thought I just ought to check that this is OK and "normal".

This is normal typcial TFSI/TSI engine design once its warm enough it will stop and go away nothing to worry about takes normally 1-2 mins to go quiet-ish again

This rattle goes as soon as the engine is idling properly, a couple of seconds at most.

My FR TFSI does this too, from cold. If the engine is still pretty warm when it's started (e.g. after stopping for fuel or whatever), it starts much more smoothly though.
Yep, that sounds just like mine. Maybe to do with the starter disengaing? There is an ex VAG mechanic that works in the garage below our office, I'll maybe check with him later.

One thing I'd add is that a short while after having my FR, I noticed it was even more clattery than usual one morning. When I checked the oil later that day, it was very low - just above the min mark. It was after then that I started checking my oil much more regularly! ;)

I also have an FR DSG and I've noticed this, it sounds really clunky, only when starting from cold though. . It's been like that since new and I've had it nearly two years now and not really had any problems with it. . .
