Has anyone else noticed getting a static shock when getting out of their Leon and touching the door to close it?

Could it be an issue with the car or could it just be me?

Any pointers appriciated.

It's the lycra in your pants. Try wearing latex. :D

Hahah funny men. You're just jelly of my cool shell threads man, innit.
;-)
For what it's worth i wear jeans and cotton jumper /hoody most of the time.
Maybe it's my trainers/shoes. I shall investigate different attire to see if t improves.

Are there any ways of reducing it from a car perspective ? I seem to remember some antistatic "things" which dangled from the back of the car in the 80s. Was that something which stopped this happening? Ya don't really see them on cars any more

had shocks with both mk2 FR's, not had a single one in the golf :( it was my morning caffeine replacement too! But i can confirm nothing has changed in terms of my daily fashion statement, in fact there is a good possibility im sat here in the same shirt i've had for years... :D

Just before your foot reaches the ground hold with your hand against the car body (your hand needs to touch car body; usually I hold the door ). So you will ground yourself and avoid these static shocks :)
Have learned this trick with my previous car.

Exactly what simmo said!
I learned this by accident after many years. Keep hold of the door or the car body as your foot touches the ground and you won't get a shock. I find it's easier to keep hold of the edge of the door around the window area.

Does he have to levitate to the car first then ? :p

I've had a static shock every day for the past week when getting out of the car for some reason!
Got to the point where I'm expecting it now haha.

Used to get this regular when I got out of my old Ibiza, ended up by holding the metal door handle before I got out, problem solved :) (for me anyway, if you don't have metal door handles anything else metal should work just as well.)
