Steering Rack Issue

After experiencing a quiet knocking sound from the front of the car during slow manoeuvres, the steering sticking slightly when driving at 30mph plus in a straight line and occasionally the steering getting heavy. SEAT in Ipswich are ordering a new steering rack under warranty after 24,000 miles.

I will let you know if this fixes the issue the symptoms I've mentioned.

Had the steering rack replaced which cured all the faults, was supposed to take 1-2 days but ended up taking 4 days because the dealer was unable to calibrate it, Barcelona had to get involved and Milton Keynes managed to plug in remotely over the internet to fix the issue.

Just a note... love this car.

Thanks, Robinsons in Ipswich are very good. Still of a bit of a bummer though as I lost 2 days more work than I expected. I created this thread to help anyone else who gets a similar problem (especially out of warranty).

If the steering rack doesn't connect and calibrate you definitely need a dealer as head office are the only people who can fix it.
