steering wheel control module change

I guys recently carried out a MFSW upgrade project

Had to change the steering wheel control module to accommodate the MFSW

Originally I had the 1K0 953 549 BC and went for a 1K0 953 549 CH

Everything before the change worked fine

Since I have fitted the new module I have an issue with the cruise control

the errors I have are found on this link
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/5kp4nwzok9h79zz/1a206TagwC

my setup for the module is 0000134
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/jbcpog51suns6bz/jJlauJcWjh

based on this info
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/wqz1e3ngrnpoj4j/sx83HY7gxT

My cruise control is on the same stalk as the indicators
The main on / off switch works okay but the set key doesn't seem to work

I had to change the workshop number and equipment number to 12345 and the importer number to 123, somebody said this could be the reason for the fault code

Any help would be GGGGGGRRRReat

Thanks for reading

0000134

0?xxxxx: Driver-Assistance-Systems
0 = Driver-Assistance-Systems not installed
0x?xxxx: Vehicle Type
0 = Normal
1 = Special Purpose with Multi-Function Control Module (Steer. Column. Contr. Mod. as Master)
2 = Special Purpose with Multi-Function Control Module (Multi-Function Contr. Mod. as Master)
0xx?xxx: Transmission
0 = Manual Transmission
1 = Automatic Transmission
0xxx?xx: Multi-Function Steering Wheel (1-4 LIN1.3 / 5-8 for LIN2.0)
0 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel not installed
1 or 5 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel w/o Tiptronic and w/o Push-To-Talk (PTT) installed
2 or 6 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel with Tiptronic and no Push-To-Talk (PTT) installed
3 or 7 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel w/o Tiptronic and with Push-To-Talk (PTT) installed
4 or 8 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel with Tiptronic and with Push-To-Talk (PTT) installed
0xxxx?x: Cruise Control System (CCS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
0 = Cruise Control System (CCS) not installed
1 = Cruise Control System (CCS) with 6 Positions via separate Stalk installed
2 = Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with 6 Positions via separate Stalk installed
3 = Cruise Control System (CCS) with 4 Positions via Blinker Stalk installed

2 = Rear Wiper installed / Board Computer via Wiper Stalk not installed
3 = Rear Wiper not installed / Board Computer via Wiper Stalk not installed
4 = Rear Wiper installed / Board Computer via Wiper Stalk installed

its on a 2007 Seat Altea XL 1.6 petrol
CC is on indicator stalk,
I do have onboard computer and
I do have rear wiper

But i still have the error

Hello Dai
Having looked at Wiki ross-tech
these are the codes ive found for you
if your car software is 0101 or lower its:
0003042
if its 0110 or higher it should be
0000534

Hope this helps

cheers mate for you work

One question, when i go to program it it gives me the option

0xxx?xx: Multi-Function Steering Wheel (1-4 LIN1.3 / 5-8 for LIN2.0)
0 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel not installed

I dont have tiptronic or push-to-talk, so it must be this line i guess
what is LIN1.3 and LIN2.0??

i too had a BC module before, the ross tech doesnt show a LIN number for that unit

LIN stands for Local Interconnect Network is a serial network protocol used for communication between components in vehicles.
Youll need to use 1-4 as your module is LIN 1.3-2.0
which would mean that your original code of 0000134 is correct - weird eh, ive had a quick look on the ross tech wiki site and i found this regards your fault code

Most common Problem is a faulty Blinker/Cruise Control Stalk (actually the small Lever on Top of it), early Golf 5 (and similar) Models are known for this Type of Problem. Inside the Stalk is a sliding Mechanism which looses Contact and therefor creates an implausible Signal, the official way is to replace the Stalk but Enthusiasts found its easier/cheaper to adjust/fix the sliding Mechanism instead.

strange if that has failed as I did a scan b4 changing the module and the car was error free

new module presents the error message, I might just try the BC module again to see if the CC error disappears

Thx mate

After using VW Teeside to get my BK Module Programmed so my CCS would work he told me they did have some issue programming the BC Modules I| would check your Hardware Version on the Steering Control Module (HW) HW 035 & 036 are OK, 638 & 636 need replacing
Hope this helps mate

Yeah I needed a new cable. For the Altea it was part number 5P0 971 584 from memory, it is easy to install, you just need to ensure you get the right cable, I bought one connected it to my button set but it didnt work.

It turned out the button set i bought had the black plug for the buttons but it only had 3 wires going to the buttons, not knowing there was a right and wrong i tried it, nothing no horn nor did the buttons work, i needed the button set with 4 wires to it (5P0 version)

I have some bits left over here from my exploits, if you need any bits let me know and I will take a look for you, i did have a cable 5K0971584C but sold it the other day. I have steering wheels and 2 different button sets

scream if i can help

There are 2 versions of the cruise stalk, early and late. The late version part number ends with a C, you might have to get a later stalk that's compatible.

Also it might be worth noting that the CH steering module is mk6 golf equipment so 2008 onwards.

I used an AK which supersedes to a BK when I did my mfsw swap.
