Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone may be able to help.

I've recently picked up a Seat Ibiza 1.2 for my wife and starting having clutch problems, more than likely the thrust bearing. I've had it into the garage and had a new clutch fitted, however, when I picked it up the gearbox is now really stiff. It does go into gear but with a struggle.

I asked the garage and they said it felt stiff when they drove it in to do the clutch, which I'm sure wasn't the case. It was fine before the clutch was fitted.

Any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed please.

Thanks

Rich

Indeed, over time the linkages can go out of adjustment causing notchy or stiff changes, but yes the linkages are easily adjustable. It shouldn't take too long as a DIY prospect if you follow the instructions carefully. Alternatively an honest garage should charge half an hour's labour to do this for you.

Hopefully this solves your problem.

Thank you all sorted, gear linkages as you suggested.

All the best and thank you again!
