There's a noise coming from the engine when it's running on my Seat Leon 1.6S(2002). It sounds similar to a worn fan belt. But, my local Skoda dealer Parkside in Bolton say the fan belt is ok. Could anyone help please?
when you turn ignition on do you hear it go ,, ggrrrrrr like a grinding sound? or like a stiff belt ? i have the same problem if so . my car does it when cold , once warm is fine. i changed my belts and pumps ect 12 month ago and all still good nick of course.
I don't really know a great deal about motors, but i think i have the same problem... when I turn it on something goes ggrrrrrr as you so adequately put it but when its sat at idle it also makes a whistling noise, like a squeeky belt... a friend of mine suggested fan belt needs tightening? does this sound the same as yours? and if so what did you do? thanks
I had the same issue with my evo 5.... Turned out the belt was in contact with the metal of the pulley.... Gets worse when wet and can hear it over engine noise? And gets louder as you pick up speed?
unfortunately i had to replace the pulley, belt was fine as i got to it pretty quick. but it worth checking that too.... it only gets worse when the snow comes ;-)
mine just makes a funny sound when i first turn engine on and its cold. seems to be coming from drivers side. i had all belts changed 1 year ago approx 8k miles ago. have they done a crap job?
