Like the title says, I was heading out in my LCR last night when I heard a strange rubbing noise when I went to turn the wheel even more than 10 degrees! Was thinking that it could be something to do with the Power Steering or theres no fluid or something but I'm not 100%, done a bitta research earlier and seen some posts which seemed similar, problem was bearings or problems with their drive shaft.

Has anyone else any ideas as to what it could be or has anyone else had this problem?

Cheers dudes.

Sounds like CV gaitor or wheel bearing to me. Jack the car up and spin the wheel and see if you can hear it.

Good man, I will check when I get home. Bearings & a new CV boot were changed not so long ago so don't think it would be that but these things do perish over time so just to be sure.

Checked it just there and can't seem to find what it is, jacked the car up and only makes the sound when you turn the wheel either way, doesn't sound like a wheel bearing, anyone any ideas need help badly here

Sent from my iPhone when I should be working!

Checked the CV joints they were fine. Was thinking it could be tension belt bearing? Seems to vibrate a lot when the wheel is turning?

Check the shock absorber hasn't dropped through the hub slightly and is now rubbing on the cv boot

Mine did this , had this strange rubbing noise when the wheel was turned ever so slightly and turned out to be that especially if you've had any suspension work recently

Couldn't find the problem myself but I'm no mechanic, I went to reverse the car out of the drive way and the power steering had seized all together!! Was a struggle trying to turn it, anyone any ideas what this is?

I can't open the damn Power steering cap without breaking it! No sign's of any oil/fluid leaking at all I'm so lost :(

Just found out over the weekend that the steering rack in my LCR needs to be replaced, I'm getting a second hand one from a mk4, is this okay to fit? has anyone else fitted one to theirs? I was told the LCR uses a quicker turning rack than a standard Cupra.

I have heard that a TT rack is quicker as is the lcr. Prob better going for one of these.
May be wrong of course, I was once :)

Its a hardship trying to get second hand stuff over here haha, would prefer the TT one because I know its been done before on quite a lot of LCR's, just hope this one would fit okay?

Chaps..

I'm in trouble.. fitted a mk4 steering rack yesterday as mine was knackered and the car is in a jock!

The steering is all over the place, its so light you can turn the wheel with one finger and the car ends up swerving onto the other side of the road! Also when I go to take a 90 degree turn the wheel locks and the traction light flashes!

Has anyone else had these problems after fitting one? I wanted to replace it with one from an Audi TT but couldn't find one here :( Please help!

Perhaps the new rack works with a power steering pump of lesser pressure therefore with more pressure than it is set for the steering will be as you described. What about a pump off the same mk4. Perhaps someone with more knowledge than I will chip in.
