Has anyone on here made any attemp at getting the weight down on the ibiza.

If so what have you removed to do so?

Also does anyone on here have a rollcage?

I took the spare wheel out of mine...................then put it back in when my sound system got installed. I went from saving weight to adding twice the amount that I took out.

Spose it all depends on how commited you are to doing it and how much you wanna spend as you could always get lightweight replacements for things like the bonnet, but i would start with simple stuff like the spare wheel and anything else that isn't desperatley needed, im sure someone on here knows about stripping cars out and can help more than me.

picked up my roll cage at the weekend, so once mine back the diet starts to see if can get it down below the ton mark!! so ill keep you posted

stripped a 106 to a bare shell so easy to start with as know what to take out:

full interior, roof liners, trims ect
carpets, sound deading
spair wheel and jack
remove dash and take off fire wall liner, as these normally are heavy
also remove it from engine side
airbags
and like people said the engine damper weights
then get naughty with the hole cutter and grinder

then anything else what goes back in make sure its lightest can afford

look at poly windows, fiberglass/ carbon pannels

Might be worth not ditching it purely because one day you might venture onto some other race circuits in other championships that require a dash

I cant ditch it m8 in Combe's regs, although some peeps must have som eother interpretation on that rule LOL.... essence of dash in some of em.

A cut down version tho is fine.

Need to find a slot in my timetable of other mods to do this bit.

do any lower spec ibiza come with a solid boot floor, with no wheel well?

as sure that would save some weight welding a new one in?

also bill can you do me a fav, and take some pics of where your cage mounts the floor, as got the same cage and just like to see how yours is fitted?

cheers Andy

No - even poverty spec ones come with the well. you can remove the well easily though & then there are nice flats to secure something.

Use alu plate - it's lighter than steel & bond it on
