strut top thread lengths

Just had 2 new front struts fitted the thread lengths after the nut are different by about 5 mm and has developed a knock. Should t thread lengths be the same?

Yeah normally as the top mount should be fully down to the recess on the shock absorber.
Sounds like maybe one isn't fully tightened or the top mount isn't located properly

could be a few things that could possibly knock depending what was taken to bits when the struts were fitted when i lowered mine it started knocking and we had drop link off track rod ends out and bottom ball joints to get the strut out

Ok cheers al get it took back and tell them to check it again

No it wasnt bud they were done at a local tuning place

I've replaced drop links ball joints it's in for front pads nd discs next week the only thing I have noticed was t thread length difference

Also it knocks on the same side sometimes when changing gear or when accelerating.
