Ok, Ive been wanting a new Leon for a while now. I really like the looks of the FR tdi, but as the missus only has an auto licence we need the tdi DSG, which onyl comes in the stylance. What are te differences in exterior appearance between the FR and the Stylance? Are there any factory options available to make the stylance look as good as the FR?

Thanks

Different front bumpers, different rear bumpers, different wheels, different exhaust, different dials, different gearbox, different suspension, different brakes, different interior.

Apart from that ..... ;)

Youd' be better off buying a petrol and going with the DSG TFSI FR .

edit to add/
Or ... so rumour has it 2009 brings the DSG to the TDI FR if you can wait that long.

just to say - actually - its probably worth you telling you wife to go and learn how to drive a proper manual ;) - then you'll have no issues at all

so the exterior differences are the bumpers and wheels.. now can the FR bumpers be retro fitted to the stylance? i would like the fr tdi in dsg if it did become available, but the whole dpf issue worries me a bit...

Yes they can be - although people usually fit the cupra front rather than FR.

Have you seen the BTCC kit?

lol been there done that.. trust me itd be cheaper to get the pd140 dsg taken out of an stylance and put into the fr.. the amount of lessons itd take for her to grasp how to use ''the sticky up thng next to her leg''...

sounds intresting.. would a local dealer do the work and would it be costly..? i have seen the btcc kit.. as i do think it looks smart, but those big plastic vents kinda put me off a bit.. id rather keep it standard factry lookin with an fr or cupra bumper..

Dan..... with this superb DSG I cannot understand ANYONE  who would even contemplate wanting to drive a manual, oh how prehistoric. Believe me even you as a manual driver will be converted.....as another poster suggested go for the FR then you can still play around with the paddle shifts to prevent any cold turkey from not having manual. :p
Word of warning depending on previous auto's your missus has driven (that is if you go for the FR) ..... if she is used to flooring the accelerator to get a bit of a fast start from standing or even kickdown prepare her for some brown trouser inducing propulsion if she is not prepared. :-o
I should know I just about shat myself a few times at first :D
