Hello

I want to add an amp to my Ibiza, and have the factory radio.

At the moment, I don't have rear speakers as they didn't come with the car , but I'm going to add the rear speakers and upgrade the front ones and connecting them direct to the stereo which would have been unlocked with Vag-Com.

Is it then possible to link the amp from the sub to the rear speakers with a High level to low level converter? or would this not work?

Yep I have done this on mine. I used a halfords high level to rca adaptor and spliced it into the front and rear l+r speaker wire on the iso harness at the back of the HU. Works perfectly with no issues. There is a gromet and hole just under the carpert at the back of the passenger footwell thats used for the power stearing on left hand drive card which you can pass the power cable from the battery through unless you have the bat relocated to the boot.

Okay, I've looked more into fitting the sub with the factory radio.

I forgot to mention I had a parrot kit installed in between the radio and the speakers, and looking through multiple forums, it seems parrot kits don't like subwoofers.
So...
Would the sub have to be linked directly in to the back of the radio on the front speaker ports, or onto the connection after the parrot to the speakers?

the problem we have with the parrot kit in the scooby is that if you recieve a call it carries on playing music through the sub so in turn you have to turn the stereo down and turn the parrot kit up. bit annoying. but this is wired through the pre outs so will more than likely be different using the high level inputs

Hmm, so wiring it into the back of the stereo into the front right positive and front left positive?

hmmm not too sure pal. somebody will know though haha just a sub will be pos/neg from both front speakers. but as for the parrot not sure how it will fit into the grand scheme of things.

Picked up my MK5 on Tuesday - has rear speakers fitted. Strange that they didn't bother fitting any to some models.

as far as i understand it the parrot sits inbetween the speaker outputs and the speakers and has its own small amp to make sound and mutes the stereo when a call comes in, so if you have the speakers wired after the parrot, including rears, then use the rear speakers themselves to take the highlevel feed from it should still mute correctly.

i dont own a parrot but i have a pretty good understanding of how they work.

a few things to check, the iso plug doesnt have any wires for the rear speakers so you will likely need to install the rear speaker wires into the iso or find an adaptor to go inbetween and use that, also the parrot will likely not be wired inbetween the rear speakers since they wernt there when it was installed so you will also need to install the parrot to the rear speaker channels of the HU.

i think thats it, i did a lot of research on this when i bought my facelift as i was convinced it would not have rears however it did.

also i cannot confirm but i was told that the inbetween radio fitted before the facelift and after the pre (looks the same as the pre facelift radio) may not have any rear channel amplifier as there are 2 different part numbers and it seems to be luck which one they installed when they were crossing over.

I'll post photos tonight or tomorrow of the harness lead and the wires for power/ground.

Any ideas what is easiest way to get high level signal to subwoofer with Cupra - 14. It has to be taken from front speakers as I dont plan to use much of the rear speakers. And if radio is needed out what about codes removing tools etc? Or is there some easy way to keep original wires uncut for warranty and nicer installation?

Edit: Plan is to use high level to rca adapters with wake up signal to amp coming through them. Rca goes to boot and in to active subwoofer.

From what I've been told and what I can remember, the front speakers are low level while the rear ones are high level.
The easiest way from my opinion would be to remove the radio and use the connection there to splice the wires to get the signal, and, if you have rear speakers already, use those ones rather than the front.
As for the codes, when I took my radio in and out, it did ask me for the code, however, on starting the engine, it was happy to continue, so it probably has the code in the main computer. This is the pre-facelift Ibiza.
IF you don't want to cut the original wires, the something like this should be good, and cut these wires.

Double check that it has all the right ones though.
Removal tools - if you could take a photo, I could probably guess, but my one was:
1. remove facia, it just pulls off, but be careful not to snap it.
2. four 25tx? screws undo.
3. radio slides out.
Simple as that.
check on the amp that it doesn't already have the high level in, it will look like a small rectangular box with 4/5 pins in it. That's how I wired my active up before I went aftermarket.
Also, I read somewhere that the heating controls or something just below the radio is quite close and doesn't allow for a double din, so if you do remove the radio, again, be careful not to damage that.

Well all the subs that I´m considering have high level inputs but I´d rather use RCA because it does not take interference that easily. And Seat ones dont need any special tools other than possibly torx ? Well now that I think of it neither did Skodas. That will be one easy install compared to some that I have done .

By the way, that extension cable is an excellent idea. No harm done to stock cables and easy to remove when needed. Does that spesific one work with Ibizas newer model radio? If it does I will order it right away and use it to cut the cables.

And double din is not an option for me. I have SPS, parking sensors etc and I´d like to keep as stock as possible inside. Sub is an easy install and easy to remove without a trace especially now that the battery is in the boot.

I´ll be getting my Cupra by the end of the next month so I have time to order bits and pieces and have them ready for install when I get the car.

It looks like it does. I think all quadlocks are the same, just different wiring config. But seeing as it's one to one with no crossover, it should be fine.

I just sent them a question about the compatibility. Lets see what they answer. And the battery is in the boot with all the 1.4TSI models (ACT, FR, Cupra). I actually like how Vag does radios. Easy to swap and switch between models without special tools. I changed my Octavia RS´s radio from stock one that didnt have mp3 support and only one cd at the time to a model that had 6cd changer built in and mp3 support and it was a 20min job+10mins to figure what bit to activate to get my amps fired up.
