sunroof confusion..

hi, i have a gti 2.0 8v.. it has a sun roof.. a manual fold up one.. is this a standard part?.. or has it been added extra as doesn't look original.. if not do u reckon it should be electric or winding?.. thanks

What you mean the full length fabric sunroof that folds back all the way to the rear seats?

factory fitted was either the fabric full length electric in the Ibiza Air or the Glass manual slide/tilt winder in the other models

pop up manual glass sounds like an aftermarket one, check the glass for a name like hollandia etc on it

Sounds aftermarket... can be a pain if it starts to leak as most of the manufactureres have stopped selling them and spares have dried up i had this a few yrs ago on my old polo

theres no seat badge.. thats y i asked.. n guess what.. it leaks.. lol so i wanted to put it bk to original.. there is nothing inside to show its had a winder or anything tho.. where do i start! lol

check glass for any name make or numbers firstly as it may be popular enough to be spares available, rare but ya never know

failing that measure it up and call a local sunroof fitter and see if they can do one 10 mm bigger all round and get a new one fitted

i wanna take the roof out n have a look if its a simple as the brackets being bent thats letting water in.. because the seals look fine.. and it rattles baddly with the bass.. lol

Lol if it rattles badly you definately have something loose, all glass should be sealed and not move.
