I debadged my Leon this afternoon and it all went very well except for the letter E.

It came off OK and I removed the black sticky stuff but I then noticed really hard blobs that just wont budge no matter what I throw at it!

I have a horrible feeling the previous owner has used something like superglue to re-stick the letter when it has come loose.

Any ideas on how to remove it without taking the paint off?:cry:

You could get away with petrol but I wouldn't try that just yet.

Have you tried any tar & glue removers.

If not and your not in a mega hurry then I can send you over enough to give it a try if you wish.

Failing that a heat gun might soften it enough to allow you to remove it but if it's defo superglue I'm a little concerned about that as it's properties are very different to a more often used normal glue.

Don't try the petrol just yet. It can work but not the best way to start. A tar and glue remover can be just as hazardous as petrol I'm sure but at least you know it's for the job. People spill petrol on their cars everyday and the petrol station with no immediate effects but unless removed properly afterwards it can cause you problems.

Give me a shout if you want a small amount of tar & glue remover to try it.

Lee.

I've tried a "bug and tar" remover and that did nothing. Going to the body shop sounds like a good idea tho. Do u think a super glue de-bonder (if thats the correct term) would work?

As a requested: Not a great image I'm afraid.

there was a product by loctite, that i used on my old ibiza years ago, someone had super glued down the edge of the rub strip to keep it from lifting.
its name alludes me,but it worked very well.came in a small glass bottle.one of the only things i have bought from a pound shop that was any use .

not the same as i used but says it removes super glue,i'd put a blob of it in the boot area first, see if it dis-colours the paint

What a pain in the arse this is  :)

loctite super glue remover. you just put it on over the dobs of glue let it turn to gel and wipe it off!!!

The Loctite Glue Remover worked a treat!

Had to leave it on the paint work for about 20mins but it wiped away clean and the paintwork is still there! ;)

Thx to everyone for there suggestions [B)][B)]
