When I read this thread I was going to suggest the Qpeng option, but Dave beat me to it.

Regarding the Qpeng, could you send off a 1.4 loom and a 20vT loom and would they be able to put them together? Or would an abf loom have to be used??

1.4 / 2l8v 2l16v...
its all irrelevant

you need a 1.8T loom ;)
dont forget its the 1.8T youre putting in and running not any other engine

chris went: mk2>mk3 vr6>toledo (1.8 20v non-t)>god knows lol

I remember the day when he hit his sump on a new speed bump lol :)

Also just thought I would contribute to this thread as Im not being relevant :)
Bubbleboy I would like to see a build thread coming soon! :D

still irrelevant if you think about it...
the ecu controls the engine and the running of the engine.
Youve 1 wire for the tacho
and 1 for the coolant temp that youve to wire yourself to the car to make them work...
fuel sender is the same, and speedometer is the same :)

you could potentially take every single wire out of the engine bay and just use the QPENG loom and your car would run
