This is a strange request , but please bear with me.

As you know i have had a lot of issues with my car and one of the main issues i have had is timing being pulled back.
SEAT deem its normal but i have hundreds of logs taken over hundreds of hours which says differently.
3 independant tuners have looked at my car and agree theres a aproblem and the diagagnisis from SEAT is not correct.

Anyway enough of the blabbing.

Has anyone ever experienced or had experience of the timing out by 1 or more teeth on the timing belt?
i dont mean to the extreme that the valves and pistons touch , im more interested in the symptoms a car would show if the timing is 1 tooth out.

Cheers.

Pretty sure if the belt timing is out a tooth the management light would be on due to the cam position sensor. And from experience a lack of power and poor idle.
There may be chance that where the cams are timed together is incorrect which I doubt would be picked up via sensors.
Just my opinion mate.

I had an issue when got my timing belt changed. After leaving service station no warning lights whatsoever. The car just was not driving properly. Seemed like power loss and turbo not functioning (LIMP mode?). Went back to service. Diagnosis has shown camshaft misalignment or something, can't remember exact error name. Apparently belf was a bit off, guess not more than 1 tooth. Was back to normal after the fix.
So, diagnosis should definitely show even slight misalignment.

How easy is the belt change to do for a tech? Mine goes in next week for its 4yr belt change......and I'm worried I get it back with issues? My car has never missed a beat!

I've heard of people getting broken covers as well.

I done my own fr which is the same really took me just over 2.5 hours for belt kit and waterpump. Never broke anything and you couldn't go wrong. A bit to strip off but not difficult so I wouldn't think you have anything to worry about mate.

Thanks Kev. :) They are doing the water pump too. Bit expensive though!! [:@]

Me and my bro were gonna do it, but weren't sure of extra tools, and don't want any issues if it goes wrong.

No special tools required mate.
I do mine since I've been a mechanic for 17 years otherwise it would have went somewhere to be done.

thanks for the info , i dont have any fault codes at all.
but i do know that after my cylinder hear was changed they did have a problem with the timing so wonder if something was bodged?
i have a new cam position sensor so will fit that and see if that throws up a code.

Mate,

I've followed the trials and tribulations with your car and I have to say I'm impressed with your dedication to it still :)
