Tailgate Virtual Pedal

Hi there
I recently took possession of a Cupra Formentor VZ3. I have not fully explored all the Options yet, however I have noticed something
maybe someone can help me with.

The car was bought online and delivered on a trailer and apart from showing me the Start button he did open the Tailgate and
mentioned something about using your foot to Open and Close.

I did try it last week but had no success. I phoned Cupra UK and asked if it had it fitted using reg number, she said that it does not have it fitted.
I also phoned the Dealer who supplied the car and he also said he did not think it was fitted to car.

However just today I looked in the Cupra Configurator online and from the VZ1 upwards it says it has a Virtual Pedal for Tailgate.

There is a Button inside the Tailgate which Closes the Tailgate when closed. Will phone my local Dealer and see what they say and try to get definite answer.

However just wondering is there an Option to Enable the Virtual Pedal via the Infotainment Screen and do other owners of VZ3's have it on their car.

Many Thanks

I can’t say for sure, but on my Kia the auto opening can be switched on or off. I have mine switched off to prevent accidental collisions with low multi storey car park roofs!

I went to the car to check settings and there's no option to control virtual pedal. You can only switch off/on keyless.

I assume you know how virtual pedal should work and kick under the boot in a right way? If not, watch some videos on YouTube, just in case.

I have the vz2 (2021) and it has it, so i would presume yours does too as its technically a higher spec. Approach the rear of the car with the keys in the hand. Just swing your foot under the rear middle like you are lightly kicking under the rear spoiler. I find it to be not very sensitive, so a little frustrating. I cannot remember seeing any menu option to disable it. But i can look in the manual later if you need.

The virtual pedal can be switched on and off in vehicle settings and then central locking. It's called "easy open"

When you kick under the rear of the car make sure to remove your foot and leg completely otherwise it doesn’t operate. If it detects your foot or leg still present it doesn’t work.

A swift kick in and out works every time for me.

I assume as well you have a switch in the drivers door pocket under the arm rest that holds the window controls too.

My Build Week 20 VZ3 has it fitted. As said above, kick under and then remove your foot and move back slightly. You get the hang of it 👍

That's why turning the beep off with VCDS coding isn't a good idea. I found on a tip run moving house, a load of metal audio equipment in the boot actually amplified how it works. Metal in the boot must have done something to how the proximity sensor functioned. Starting coming down. Once unloaded it was back to normal behaviour.

As Brady says after the foot action you have to move back since its looking out for that as well in order to start the process. Pets playing about underneath whilst you stand there can also trigger closure . You have to watch out for that one. Feline help with getting the shopping in.

Same here: that’s why I disabled it.
Apart from the cat weaving under it which has triggered it when unloading (cat taken as my foot going under and out), the other was when I was going to the dump (recycling) with a lot of redundant sat equipment, it drop down then. Reckon the metal influenced how it behaved. It is on an Ateca thou.

I find it very useful but you do need to watch out 😂. Certainly wouldn't recommend disabling the sound.

Just been looking online and on the configurator it looks as though the VZ's are having the Virtual pedal option removed as standard and being charged £500 for this now. Anyone know of any further information on this and when this comes into force?
