These motors are all lovely, but you know what? There's a special place in my heart for an Ovni yellow Mk1 Cupra R, especially if it's a BAM. It takes me right back to the good old days

Agreed still the best looking Cupra in my opinion.

I was still cutting my teeth when the mk1 Cupra R was for sale. The dealership I worked for at the time had a black, red and yellow one side by side on the display stand on the forecourt, they were mega. Miles more exciting to look at than the Golf GTI, R32, Octavia VRS or Audi S3 that were the best offerings from the rest of VWG.

Interestingly, the later models were the first cars that I ever remember having transport chocks in the suspension when they were delivered. They come in pretty much everything now, often end up in the bin, but make an excellent repair bracket for broken wardrobe rail hangers...

Always loved them. Worked my way through 5 mk1’s from my first 1.6S in 2002 to my current yellow R. Can’t beat em in my opinion.
