Tappet noise

First off, just to be sure, is it an EA211 engine (turbo in front of or behind engine)? I have the 3 cylinder CHZB 95hp EA211 in my 2016 ibiza and these engines have roller cam followers - which I think is good - but they tend to rattle a bit when cold but get quieter when hot. So if the noise you are worrying about is that light tapping noise, then mine, with just coming up on 20,000 miles on the clock, actually sounds more noisy than that when cold. Worth considering too that all aluminium engines, as ours are, tend to sound more "tinny" than the older engines which had a lot of cast iron in them. The only other noise I'm hearing from your clip is the induction and exhaust noise when you are "goosing" it - sounds normal also? A better assessment of the follower noise could be made if you just slowly and gently increased the revs to, say, 2,000 rpm and then let it slowly decrease to idle again.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Ea211 2015 it is. I have changed the cam follower tappet (inside hpfp).
The problem is that i have always the sound cold or hot engine and I don’t want to hear it. The noise is that tac tac tac when the revs drop.
When the car was new it was very quiet.

I know exactly what you mean. Mine was very much quieter when new but by the time it had done about 6,000 miles it got noisier. Doesn't seem to have really got a lot more noisy since though. It is very annoying, especially when compared even to my old 1.9 TDI Cordoba. The Cordoba lasted me for about 18 years. I'm not expecting the Ibiza to last anything like as long. I suspect that it's poor wee over stressed lightweight turboed engine with all those energy saving modifications probably won't go the distance. I'm quite nervous about the transmission too which seems to me to have far too much backlash (you can often hear the clunk when changing gear or moving off from rest as the drive takes up) and it whines a wee bit too in lower gears - although I suspect that's due to the excessively thin gear oil in use these days.

Yes it’s very annoying to hear it. I don’t know which part needs replacement to stop it. When I disconnected hpfp for test i was hearing the mechanical noise of the pump but behind the noise i was hearing the engine revs clean without ticking.
