Tapping in engine bay?

Hey guys, I was parking my car tonight and heard a tapping noise, on closer inspection i discovered that it was coming from the back, somewhere behind the engine.
Its a 20vt with 80,000 on and has had a water pump change at 60,000. The noise is very quiet at the moment, but as you can imagine im a little worried that it might become worse.
Has anyone had, or heard of anything like this before?
Thanks.

No sadly its not. I can hear it echo slighty in car but I had to really stick my head in the back of the engine bay to hear it clearly.
Im gonna give it an oil change and see if that helps.

its with the fan off, its sounding more like a knock today rather than a click, and its a little louder.
Im just hoping its not the turbo. but there isnt any power loss so. I dunno pretty stumped.
Gonna give it a service tomorrow and try to get a hold of my mates vagcom. Fingers crossed its just something silly.

i think i may know the sound your thinking of, like a really quiet noise that sounds like some really tiny person is knocking on your bulkhead? i notice mine does it when i get to the end of a journey and listen carefully. I thought that was just a normal car noise..?? please let me know if you find that it isnt. could it be cambelt on its way out?

could be heat settling from the exhaust or turbo or hot parts that settle as they get cold or heat up maybe like in your house like the pipes, just a thought.

If your not using bolt down coils, it could be them rattling about. I think thats what it was on mine. And because they had been moving about, my spark plugs had loosend. Im gonna have to some extra covers for them Like the one over the left plug which the black thing sits on.
(Very technical)
