So ,my Leon has this morning decided that anything above 3500rpm is a bit strenuous for it.

Runs great up to that limit, at which point it feels like the traction control or a rev limiter has kicked in. However there are no warning lights on the dash, or anything to suggest why.

Is this the 'limp mode' I have read about?

What is the best place to look for a fix. I've downloaded VCDS lite but the link cable has yet to arrive so I can't scan it.

Sounds like limp mode, check your vac lines and then search the forum, loads of info on here

Not done it again since, and I have now got VCDS-Lite up and running, and can see no fault codes other than the brake light switch.

I'm going to give this a stiff ignoring unless it happens again!
