Ive got a 2007 tdi fr pd170 and was thinking of getting a tdi tuning box has anyone ever fitted one was wondering if there worth the money ???

My leon has done 106,000 miles and I'm worried a remap would cause clutch problems

Any help or advice would be brilliant :)

Tdi Tuning Box

I had one fitted to a previous FR i owned , a 57 plate (56,000 miles).
Yes i noticed a boost in power and a boost in the wear of the front tyres!
The reason i had it fitted for me was that the Map Sensor wire was in such an awkward place to fit (ie underneath the engine at the rear) i took it to a tuning place who were fitters for these boxes to fit it for me, it's nothing like the 1.9Tdi engine. The other connections are easy though.
I did'nt have any clutch problems (increased power was up tp 208bhp).
I admitted it to the insurance company (eventually)! I took it off the following year as i struggled to get insurance!! at a reasonable price.

I have a chip wizard one on mine. Mpg much improved as well as the torque. Would recommend one. Can be removed and refitted in a couple of minutes if needed. No issues with the dpf or clutch.

With the PD170 stay well clear its a pain in the ass to tune, you will have DPF issues straight away especially because you are over 100k

get remap + DPF delete done instead

Mines on 55k. Mostly round town/sat in trafffic as the mrs uses it. Then a longer trip maybe at weekends. Havent had a dpf issue in the year ive owned it.

Your one of the very lucky ones then.

PD170 suffers with DPF and Injector failure.

First thing i did within a week of buying my PD170 was remove the DPF

Nope. Not that, just checked the box. Its a chipexpress one, not wizard, my mistake. Have a look on the chipexpress.com website. I have mine turned up to maximum. Pulls much better much improved mpg, and easily removable if needed for any reason. Plugs in the fuel rail and the standard plug, plugs into this. Fits in a couple of minutes. I just couldnt be arsed to go down the remapping route yet and for what i paid for this it was a no brainer. New they are around £400 i paid nothing like that. Ive had no dpf issues or any other kind of issues after running it for a year.
