I thinking of buying Leon FR 2.0t with dsg.
Now, as most of these are sold by dealers they usually are parked for a long time on a dealers forecourt... Having had the problem with turbo going to limp mode due to sticking vanes on my previous cars (nonPD90 and PD130) I want to avoid that on the new one.

Is this possible that leon that hasn't been driven for a while could develop this fault? Or is the turbo design different and it isnt a problem anymore?

The TFSI is a petrol and they very rarely have turbo problems, the diesel turbos fail due to heavy carbon deposits that clog up the vains inside. The petrol turbo engine has a very clean burn so there are very little if any deposits on the vains, and i dont think the tfsi uses a variable vain turbo any way.

My advice would be to buy one, get it remapped and spend the rest of your time whilst you own the car with cheek ache from the big smile you'll have.

I always thought the sticking vanes problem was more likely with 'babied' diesels, driven at low revs all the time, or if it the turbo hadn't been allowed to slow/cool properly before switching the car off..?

My new FR TFSI DSG must have been sat around for a month or two - it was imported from Cyprus earlier this year and I bought it a few weeks ago - but I haven't noticed any problems so far. Fantastic car, by the way, but you'll definitely notice the fill-ups more, coming from a PD130! ;)

The flappy paddles make overtaking so much more fun.

you're right, haven't thought about difference diesel/petrol.

I drive pd130 in automatic now (tiptronic 5spd gearbox) so mpg over last year is around 33 average so as long as I can average above 30 in TFSI I'll be happy bunny.

And I'm so looking forward to this car, need to wait another few weeks before remortgaging and then once deal with the bank is sealed go for a car.
Shame there is only so few of them floating around, most down England and nothing in Scotland at the moment. Tried seat dealer in Edinburgh but they don't even have TFSI as demo car...

and thats exactly why I want it, always had diesels... thought they were quick but for once, when I can afford it, I want a quick turbocharger petrol car! :) I considered Alfa Romeo GT 2.0 petrol and it's beautiful car but it just doesn't feel any quicker then my PD130...
