The car is 2011 and has done 43,000 miles, there is no evidence of a propshaft coupling being replaced before.
I've had the car up on a ramp and the rear coupling (1K0521307A) looks ok.
The garage have said that the front propshaft section is only available as a complete unit but eBay seems to have hundred of listings for the 1J0521127A which is listed as "Propshaft Joint Front" and for an Altea XL.
So a couple of questions:
Can the rear coupling be shot even if appearing visibly OK?
Does front coupling failure give the same symptoms as rear coupling failure?
Is the garage right (quoting over 1K) about the front propshaft not being serviceable or can the front coupling be replaced as above?
