Well, as title says, my Boc died tonight!

Only had the car a couple of months and it is now sitting back in dealers court yard.

Basically driving home tonight and this strange noise starting coming from the engine under immediate accerlaration. It seemed to me that the noise correlated with the supercharger. I noticed a slight dip in power.

Anyway, my local dealer is open late on a Thursday night so I called to see what they said. Fortunately the dealer who sold me the car was working and I explained to him that there was a strange noise coming from the engine.

We jumped into the car with the dealer driving...the noise was still there. We took the Boc for a good run and it basically died, lossing all power and the dsg automatic shift did not work.

Got the car back to the dealers and it sounded like a bag of marbles lol.

Am seriously not over impressed. The car has only got about 4000 miles on the clock and can't believe it has died. Will wait to see what the diagnosis is tomorrow.

OMG!!!!! Please do keep us updated, this seems to be the second one now as another on broke a valve if I can remember. I hope this is not going to be a recurring issue with these cars, i would seriously think of shifting mine on then..................... would hate that as I really love my boc.

o dear, does not sound good at all, what sort of milage have other people done in there bocs without any probs. and what sort of driving style... honestly dont say u drive it like you stole it if you get 400mpg or drive at 40 in a 30 zone lol. just interested to know maybe its driving them harsh that is causing the probs.

ive heard so many times now people just say warm it up and rag it, just wondering if this is what people are doing. the guy who busted a valve in 100 miles seems strange.... seems like he's got in it and ragged the daylights off it. fair play if he didnt and it did just die, not looking forward to mine tho if there is a valve or engine problem, im going to be gutted.

on that note tho ibizaracebrake does give his some **** but i think i read he changed his oil very quickly after running it, not sure if it was him tho. im going to plan a 500mile oil change or somthing when i get mine. at work we had a 1.4 ibiza sport with a noisey engine when cold, found swarf in the sump and when stripped it out found nothing wrong. seat wouldnt pay for new engine so we replaced all bearings in the crank. been fine since.

These cars are marketed and sold as being hot-hatch, 7.2sec 0-62, top speed 140.

I wasn't raking this car tonight...and certainly not exceeding th speed limit! It was well warmed up. Technically speaking, it failed catastrophically with the dealer driving lol.

I am so disappoint. Such a nice looking car, but if there are going to be reliability problems with this 'high-tec' 1.4 tsi engine, then I will be looking my money back.

Am really really disappointed...basically being a Volkswagon, I was sure that this car would have been reliable!

Anyway, will wait to see what happens tomorrow :(

I have 2k on mine now has used 500ml oil and I have nice mixed driving with mainly sticking to speed limit and then ragging it on the odd occasion. I do between 70 and 90mph on the motorway and will occasionally sit just under 100mph behind someone and mine does seem perfect at the minute so, could it just be a few isolated incidents as you would no doubt find with any other brand too?

Im sorry to hear this. I really hope all this sorts its self out and they look after you at the dealers

lol...thanks! I'm with you on this one, i hope it sorts itself out and the dealer looks after me. I am confident that the dealer will look after me. He has been excellent up to now and I just hope that everything will be sorted out ok under warranty! Fingers crossed it will be a straight forward job to sort it!

Alright guys, got a bit of info back from dealer today. Seems that a spindle broke on the turbo. Have been told that everything else appears to be normal. So new turbo ordered up and should be back in business next wk.

I am really hoping that is all it is and the engine block hasn't been damaged. So, hopefully things aren't as bad as they seemed. Will keep you posted.

Hope you get your Beast mate. Loving mine, I am now managing 340 miles per tank that's mixed driving, but mainly steady. 7300 miles on the clock and used 3 litres of oil. Love these cars, shame some are having issues with theirs.

Hope you get it back and can enjoy as I am mine.

The Boc is dead...update

Well, my dealer phoned me today. They have been trying to source a turbo for the car from 19th June. After a couple of delivery dates have come and gone...still no turbo. My dealer now tells me they expect delivery by 14th July. That will be nearly a month now that my car will have been off the road. I am starting to lose faith :(

In all fairness, these are very isolated incidences and not many cars seem to be having these issues. I have 2400K on mine and no issues. Mardon has 10K and no issues so I wouldn't be too worried. You are going to find there is always a few bad eggs in a batch with ANY manufacturer. All you can do is hope you don't get the dud.

Boc is back tweaked tuned and even though it was gone for a day really missed it. Took the looooooong route back to work on the Motorway and realised how much I missed it.

Good job! I have been given a 1.4 Ibiza Sport as a curtesy car and it might as well be a 1.0 ...no ooomph in it at all. Can't wait to get mine back. I am just hoping that I will not have any other bother or problems with it...otherwise I will be chopping it and going back to Renault!
